Through the Storms...

"Then the LORD will appear over them; his arrow will flash like lightning. The Sovereign LORD will sound the trumpet; he will march in the storms of the south..."~Zechariah 9:14

That is exactly what was happening to us here in Missouri this Friday evening. I was driving in to work the night shift and the radio station started announcing tornado warnings in two different areas locally. Always makes one a little nervous-at least it did for me only because I wasn't in the safety of my home with my husband and family. Then the radio station went off the air! A few more miles down the road cop cars came racing up behind me and I knew this wasn't looking good. When the tornado sirens started going off I called my husband and asked him to pray that I would make it to the hospital safely.

I did (thank you Jesus). Walking in the open parking lot was a little nerve-wracking but I made it in and was able to help finish putting the patients out into the hallways for their safety. Five minutes within walking in the employee entrance at the back of the hospital a tornado came out of the skies in front of the hospital and quickly went back up. Oh my gosh...if that had happened when I was walking in...I probably would have needed a new uniform!

But God was protecting me...like He always does. The dark clouds moved in from the south like a snake slithering in the grass. An occasional lighting bolt and loud clasp of thunder would shake the air. The power was there and yet it doesn't compare to the power of our God.
As the storms of life blow in, the dark clouds of depression or despair impound us, the adversity and rejection strike at us...remember, our God is so much more powerful. We are to cling to His promises of love, of grace, of protection and ride out the storm into the safety of His peace.

Safe in my Lord~Pamela (MrsJoeB)

P.S. Praying for all of you in Texas-I know tonight's experience pales in comparison to what is happening in your world.

Hi Pamela thank you so much for stopping by my blog. It felt good 'seeing' you stop by :)

Glad to know you made it through the storm and it was so wonderful the way you looked into the situation and saw a word from God. Thank you for the encouragement.

I don't know if the song is a chorus in itself or part of a hymn but the melody is such that it honestly drives me to tears. I can't shake it out of my head at all. If you find it online let me know.

Blessings,
Have a great day!!

Thanking God for his provision and safety over you! How close we often come to disaster and remain unaware of God's watching eye over us.

In this day when there is undoubtedly untold devastation in our country, I am reminded to give God thanks for a house full of children who know the safety of our four walls.

I carry a heavy heart for so many who are suffering...

My daughter Lilly and I were shopping at Oak Park for a Homecoming dress when they came over the loud speakers to announce the Tornado warning and we were to seek shelter or evacuate immediately. Of course we had to make a quick stop at Macy's to pick up the dress before we jumped in the car to head home. It was frightening but nothing like actually having a tornado come out of the sky, I can't imagine how scared you must have been!!! I do love your analogy of the storms, God teaches us in all of our circumstances. I hope you are doing well, we should plan to "meet up" for lunch (or dinner with our spouses along).

Love, Kelley

Oh and your response on my most recent post was exactly how I was feeling about my house!! Thanks for sharing your insight.

You tickled me with your 'need a new uniform' remark. Makes me think of when I was a teenager in a bikini diving off the high dive. When I hit the water an realized my suit was gone I suddenly knew why so many people were watching me before I jumped! HA! I was praying the Lord would blind the eyes of those on the lifegruard stand while I frantically swam around the deep end gathering the missing pcs of my bathing suit!

When I lived in the hills of TN I loved to see the storms come. I was always amazed as the power of the wind and watching tornado's come out of the heavens. Even still as an adult, now living in hurricane alley, I am enamored by His creation. Just as unexpected storms or even expected storms come with each there is a nugget of blessing from Him. Usually, it's easier found when looking backwards. God is so awesome!

Learning to be still in the storm,
Heather

Pam,
I am so thankful you are safe! I have never witnessed a tornado "live" unless that is the same as a "water spout" over water?

I don't know, but I was so afraid of that I ran a red light trying to get away! I wasn't a Christian at the time and I was not only petrified, I didn't even have a prayer..literally!

Your insight into the power of the storms and GOD'S power are perfect words for what I thought the last time we had a horrible storm during the night.

HE is so powerful we cannot even comprehend and most humans give HIM not a thought, much less reverence or even respect.

Praying for you,
Teri
