Last night I laid in bed watching the news on Haiti. My heart is aching for those people as I'm sure yours is. When I finally turned off the TV I laid my head into my pillow and pulled the blankets tight and I felt guilty that I was able to fall asleep in such a nice bed, safe, secure...unlike the open parks of Haiti. We are so blessed. Can you even imagine being in their shoes right now?Like you, I want to be there, helping them, holding the frighten children, nursing the wounds...but I can't. We can send money. It's not enough is it? We can pray and pray we will. I know I am praying God will use this to show Himself in a most powerful and amazing way. More importantly, I can praise God. I must praise God. We must praise God.
Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD, who has compassion on you. ~ Isaiah 54:10
No matter what this earth holds for us, heaven holds so much more. Therefore, we praise Him in spite of the grueling pictures of dead bodies, bloodied victims, and dusty frightened faces.We have to keep focused on the eternal. May we all demonstrate His love, gentleness, and kindness as if we were there in Haiti with those beautiful people.
"Let the beloved of the LORD rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the LORD loves rests between his shoulders." ~ Deut. 33:12

I've just been praying for the ones possibly trapped yet still alive...that they would know God's nearness...that He would reveal Himself to them. I can not imagine the chaos. One of our girls went there a few years ago and it was a country in SERIOUS trouble then and that was before all the storms in 2008 and now this...."God be merciful and encourage the workers, strengthen them and minister life to that little country."
I relate to everything you are feeling. Thank you for sharing. May God grant us hearts to give and pray.
Prayin for them here too! Such a sad situation. We have felt called to adopt from Haiti at some point and so were familiar with the country. Such a sad sad thing.

Praying with you! We sat our kids down and watched a bit of the coverage with them - so many questions from the little ones and me too. Hard to understand, but like you say we must trust and praise! Amazingly my 5 year old wanted to go to bed singing "Praise the Name of Jesus" last night - oh the faith of a child!!
It's hard to know what to do; so much need, so little resources. May our hearts always reflect God's compassion for the "least of these" and may the light of his love be our witness as we go and along the way.

I sooo relate to everything you are feeling about the catastrophe in Haiti!
May we as a people - the Body of Christ, unite in compassion for that nation and undergird them in prayer, hope and support! May God's mercy strengthen the workers to be His Heart and Hand extended to Haiti!!
